“Rescheduled” Photo Walk

Under: Events 29 March 2010 4 comments

A number of local “photo walkers” have expressed an opinion in rescheduling yesterday’s cancelled photo walk.

Although I may not be able to attend myself I am more than happy to let everyone know of the details.

If you are up for a photo walk on Saturday, April 3rd at 6pm, there will be some people meeting at Harris Park to head out for a little walk.

For more information about the root please check out the post regarding the photo walk that was cancelled.

Please keep in mind that we will have our regular April photo walk near the end of the month and plan to attend as it is our 1 year anniversary.

Introducing PhotoCamp London Canada!

Under: Events, News, Sponsors 27 March 2010 1 comment

It is with pleasure that I am telling you all about PhotoCamp London! I(James) have been wanting to do this since the very popular PodCamp London last year, and then SMarts London, and PodCamp Toronto. It is time to focus on the Arts again and get everyone out to share, learn, and contribute to our artistic community! So here it is! PhotoCamp London Canada and unconference on photography & cinematography!

What is PhotoCamp London?

PhotoCamp is for everyone; newbies, professionals, teachers — everyone is welcome! PhotoCamp is about creating an affordable (free) event with themes surrounding photography and cinematography. Education and community involvement take a front seat throughout the discussions of these mediums.

An unconference is a small conference where the content is provided by the attendees. Each conference will have only a basic structure up until it starts. People are asked to contribute sessions that they want to present or hear about. Those sessions are picked up by someone with experience in that field and they present it. A session is between 5 and 30 minutes and can cover any topic related to photography and cinematography.

When is PhotoCamp London?

PhotoCamp London is proud to be hosted by the London Public Library, at the Central branch, located in the heart of our fine city. The event will be filled with lots of fun learning and networking among fellow photographers. So mark your calendars and register now!

East London Industrial Walk Review

So this review is only 2 months way over due! I was suppose to write this up shortly after the walk but then came Christmas and then our latest walk earlier today. That review I promise will be up much sooner.

For our 8th and last photo walk of 2009. We went through London’s industrial area. This area has been given a bad rap over that past few years, with many rundown buildings and not that much curb appeal. That is now a myth as all of the participants of the 8th walk will tell you.

The industrial area made for great photos, regardless of the grey skies that followed us through the walk. The area was full of colour and thankfully not full of snow being November.

We had a very good turnout with around 25ppl participating this time around. After wards we headed to Sam and Bills on Dundas across from the old McCormick factory for some well need refreshments, and few good laughs. Many of those laughs were attributed to Kevin’s friend Kyle and his NaPhoBoMo adventures:

I encourage you to take a look through the flickr group and hope to see you at future walks!
