A New Year, A New Look

Under: Administration, News 30 April 2010 1 comment

Well as you can hopefully see the site has changed a bit! London Photo Walk is now a year old and the original website was just a random theme off the internet and then further down we added and changed a few things, and now we have completely re done it all from the Top Down! I say that because if you notice the footer isn’t quite finished yet! So lets go over what is new!

1. The Design of course. The new design puts a larger focus on the London Photowalk’s Next Walk as seen at the top of the page in the big green bar, and the overall brand of the walks.

2. The Marketplace, this feature was implemented a few months ago but we have put more focus on it. We have found from our website stats that the Market place is our second most visited page, third is the photos page.

3. The Photos Page, this page is still under construction. We are looking for a non-flash solution for pulling as many images as we can from our flickr group and displaying them on that page. If you know any really nice ones please share them with us in the Comments!

4. Comments, nothing has changed here but we really want you input! Tell us what you think of a post, whether or not you plan on coming for a walk and feel free to contact us if you would like use to post a community event on our Calendar. We are all about Community Involvement and engagement!

5. Calendar, this has always been there but we once again want to remind you that all of our walks and community events will be posted to this calendar and you can subscribe to the Calendar feed!

So that is an overview of what you can see on our site that has changed. Under the hood we have removed a bunch of excess “fat” and the website now runs smoother than ever! We really hope you enjoy this new design and like always let us know your thoughts!

Oh and one more thing. WE ARE ON TWITTER NOW! You can follow us @ldnpw . Our feed will send you updates when we post a new post on the blog as well as the occasional tips and tricks, and what ever else we find that is photography related!

Happy Birthday LOPW!

It was on this very day that the first organized London Photo Walk took place! Read more about how we came to be on the About page!

LOPW is now 1 year old and we have had a total of 10 photowalks!

Cancelled: Spring Sunset Photo Walk – LOPW 11

Under: Administration, News 16 March 2010 3 comments

We have decided to cancel today’s photo walk due to the weather.  Although the rain and gloomy skies can make for some good photos, the cold weather and wetness is something that is not good for our cameras or our health. With that said, March will not have a photo walk but be prepared for April’s as it will be the 1 year anniversary of the London Photo Walk.

WEATHER NOTE: Although there is a call for rain later in the evening we will be heading out unless there is a large downpour an hour before.

Check back on www.londonphotowalk.ca later on in the day for any cancellation information

First off we must apologize for such a late posting and short notice Kevin and I have been really busy lately and been watching the weather and scouting spots like crazy! So without further adieu let me introduce you to London Photowalk 11 : Spring Sunset Photo Walk

This walk takes on part of an already done route. That route had a great turnout but we got rained out a bit :(. I discovered two parts to this route. The first last year doing my NaPhoBoMo Project and the 2nd last night at sunset.

So here are the details:

When: Sunday March 28th 2010 6:00PM -8:00PM

Where: Harris Park Parking Area

PLEASE NOTE: There is very limited parking in Harris Park itself, as such your best bet for parking will be on the streets (it is free) or in the parking lot at the splash pad at the forks of the thames.

Recommendations: Tripod, Waterproof Shoes, Dress in Layers

Map of the direct route is in the sidebar and on the side of this post.

Hope to see you wall out and cross your fingers for another beautiful sunset like last night!
