Whether you’re a hobbyist or pro photographer, we’ve got something for you. As a visitor to Canada’s largest photographic show, you’ll have the opportunity to see and test-drive the very latest in digital technology, take part in various free presentations, take advantage of great deals, and experience photography at a whole new level.

- Henry’s

At the end of next week, May 22nd – 24th, Henry’s (famous across Canada for photo, digital and video) will be holding their annual Photographic, Video & Digital Imaging Show in Mississauga, Ontario.  Although this isn’t being held in London we thought that it might be an interest to photographers, or aspiring photographers in the area.

Having heard about this event for the first time about a week ago I became very interested when I found out that not only is it a show which will have on display the newest (and most expensive) gadgets, but there are on-going sessions/seminars throughout the day (6 every hour) where someone like myself, who knows little about photography in the grand scheme of things, can have the opportunity to pick up a tip or two from this days event.

Another thing that drew me towards wanting to attend this event is the very low price tag.  At $15.00 for a 3 day pass it makes it worth while to drive down to check out the event, even if for just one day.  For myself and a number of others in the London, Ontario area we will be heading down for Saturday May 23rd only, Why?  Because we don’t want to miss the next installment of the London PhotoWalk which is being held on May 24th, 2009 at 11:00am.  For more details check out the PhotoWalk event page.

If you are currently involved heavily in photography, call it a simple hobby or want to learn more about the tips & tricks, gear and software, Henry’s Photographic, Video & Digital Imaging Show May 22nd-24th in Mississauga, Ontario might just be the perfect thing for you to attend.

If you are headed there yourself let us know (below in the comments) we might just see you there.

Photowalks: Not Just For Professionals

Under: Walk Reviews 09 May 2009 2 comments

As it is encourage for everyone to come out and participate in the photowalks, some people may think that “that’s not for me” for any number of reasons. It may be that you think you need a lot of experience and expensive equipment- This is not true.

I’m going to share my experience as an “outsider” to the photowalk that took place on April 5th, 2009.

James Wilkinson brought the photowalk to my attention as I was visiting him in London, on a weekend away from school in Barrie. Intrigued by this, I decided to join him. We arrived at the coffee shop were everyone was meeting and shortly after, there was a good group of people ready to go out and take some pictures.

It’s true, that I am not a photography buff in any sense of the word. I was feeling a bit “inadequate” with my camera compared to everyone else. But on the contrary to my thoughts, no one seemed to care, as we were all there to enjoy the day and take some pictures around London.

Once we had split up into our smaller groups to help avoid the problem of people getting in the way of one and other, we headed out. While walking down the street watching everyone else, I was able to get ideas for pictures that I would not have normally thought about if I were on my own.

After a couple of hours of walking, chatting and taking pictures, it was over before I knew it and I didn’t want it to end. It was such a great experience meeting new people, sharing ideas, stories and even a couple of jokes.

I plan to head down from Barrie again to participate in the next photowalk on May 24th, 2009. And I encourage anyone who reads this to come on out, meet new people and have a great time.
