Mark July 18th, 2009 on your calendar and make sure to keep it open (I know we have and will).

The second annual WorldWide PhotoWalk is happening on July 18th, 2009 taking place in various cities and spots around the globe.  Developed by Scott Kelby last year, the WordWide PhotoWalk (much like the London PhotoWalk) is about getting people out, taking photographs, having fun and having conversations.

James Wikinson was on the ball yesterday and signed up London, Ontario to participate in this years event.  Currently I do not have more details other than the date of July 18th, 2009 . Stay tuned to LondonPhotoWalk.ca for news in the coming weeks.

PhotoWalks in London, Ontario are for everyone, not just photographers, whether you are experienced or not, we take this as a chance for local Londoners to come together and have some fun, and take some great pics while we’re at it!

Unlike our monthly PhotoWalks here in London, the WordWide PhotoWalk comes complete with a prize for the “best” image of the day from each city.  Here at LondonPhowoWalk.ca we are hoping that we can get some local businesses on board (photographay related and others) to donate some other cool prizes so that we can award multiple winners.  If you are interested in sponsoring this event by supplying a prize, treats for the participants or perhaps a local venue for the beginning or end of the walk please Contact us as soon as you can.

There are only 50 “official” spots open for this PhotoWalk so please head over to our WorldWide PhotoWalk page and register. These 50 spots are the only people that can qualify for Scot Kelby’s prize, but everyone who comes out to the event will qualify for LondonPhotoWalk.ca Prizes. The Prize from Scott Kelby is his 3rd Volume of the Digital Photography Book.

More information on the London contribution to the WorldWide PhotoWalk will be decided shortly. These details will included, Time of day, Start location, End Location, and additional prizes that we will be giving out.

Now that londonphotowalk.ca has been up for a couple of weeks and the kinks have had a chance to be worked out I thought it would be time for a formal welcome and introductory post.

Welcome to LondonPhotoWalk.ca, your hub for information, updates, photos and tips all relating to the London (Ontario) PhotoWalk.

The London PhotoWalk is a social attempt at photography in London, Ontario, Canada  and surrounding areas.  Started in March of 2009, the London PhotoWalk is a way to get Londoners (and their friends) walking and documenting (through photographs) the people, places and things that make up the communities which they call home.

With no formal membership list, membeship fees or governering charter of any type, the London PhotoWalks are meant to be fun events to get photographers, and non-photographers out together enjoying the hobby of photography within the city they love and call home.

Thanks to James Wilkinson, londonphotowalk.ca was launched in May 2009 as an attempt of having a central location to organize and keep track of the PhotoWalk, it’s participants, related events and the great imagery created because of it.  Prior to being hosted at londonphotowalk.ca the London PhotoWalk was organized through the local community news blog From My Bottom Step.

Londonphotowalk.ca is always looking for people in the community to contribute to it’s content.  Whether you have a tip to share with the photography community in London, have a photo you would like to highlight, or have information on an upcoming event, londonphotowalk.ca is the place to share it.  If you would like to start contributing (even just a single article or piece of news) please either Register and start contributing content ((All content by contributors is subject to the approval of londonphotowalk.ca prior to it being published for the public to see)) or contact us though the handy Contact page.

Sunday May 24th is the date for the next London PhotoWalk, and I am sure we are all excited about that, however, there is yet another reason to be excited for the 24th of May.

From 1030am-300pm on Sunday May 24th Harvey’s is offering it’s customers a Free Original Hamburger.  For details about the offer please make sure to check out the official Harvey’s.ca website. Although this isn’t directly related to the coming London PhotoWalk it could be a way to get more people out to the walk.  So with that said, if you needed a reason to come out in just under two weeks time for the PhotoWalk use this as an excuse.  Pick up a burger on your way to supply you with some PhotoWalk energy and grab another one on the way to eat while you reflect on the day’s events.
