Where to next?

Under: News 25 October 2009

London Photowalk has now been operating for SEVEN! Months, yes SEVEN! over half a year now! London is a great and lovely place to explore, and we want to explore it more! We have lots of ideas on where to hold photowalks but we want some of your ideas too. Provide us with some ideas on where you would like to go for your next photowalk. Don’t worry about any logistics(like being allowed on certain properties) we will take care of that.

When thinking about a place to submit please consider a spot that is easily accessible by bus, and what time of year it would look best to go there. Also please suggest near by meet and greet spots to have a bit to eat and drink after wards.

We look forward to hearing back from you, and look for the next walk information soon!

P.S. I almost forgot we want to hear your photowalk stories! Send them to us at news [at] londonphotowalk [dot] ca and it could be posted to the blog!

I think we should arrange a london photowalk retreat every winter! We go south and go on photowalks in that hot, warm, cultural place. what a rad idea and out of the cold for a winter walk.

wow scott i am with you…where to? even a few days..wherever it was we could cheap…and get lots of photos! hmmmm how bout trading cities with another group of photowalkers?

i have been thinking it would be cool to hop on the train and go somewhere random, get off the train take photos..get back on the train. could be fun, definitely spontaneous and oh yeah likely winter! eeekkkk

  3. Here are my list of suggestions:

    Storybook Gardens

Kitchener/Waterloo area – Yes I know this is not London, however, our friends in the K/W region have come down countless times to participate with us and I think it would be great to go see them and their hometown.

Port Stanley – yes this is outside London, but I think it would be fun.

    A Local Farm

    An Apple Orchard (Farmer Jacks?)

    A Junk/Scrap yard

      “A Junk/Scrap yard”

Zubiks on Clarke Rd has a series of “scrsp sculptures” done in conjucntion with local high school students….might make for some good shots!

ohhhh i would love all of those kevin…especially the junk yard! i think a really gorgeous winter walk, as in snow on the ground and ummm cold~ would be around the civic garden complex, the wonderland gardens, and the water by springbank park..all gray and shadowy..perhaps a later afternoon time? a really great pumpkin farm i found was out at ferguson’s farm on wellington road south on the way to st thomas. they even have a rusted out old car with scarecrows cuddled up inside! you have to go there this week though i am sure after next week they pack it in for the season! well worth the drive.

i like port stanley and the junk yard those would be fun. how about boler or cobble hills in the winter? or meadowlilly for a warmer time.

  6. Covent Garden Market may work, although we may make people nervous with 30 photographers walking around.

    • thats the problem with indoor public spaces, they are gray areas and can take a fair amount of work to get people on board.

Someone had mentioned getting into a mall. Although that would be interesting I don’t think a single mall anywhere would go for it.

  7. Ricky P says:

Yeah, that was me, I thought it’d be neat to get some shots during the christmas shopping madness… but you guys are right, having a bunch of photo walkers around would probably freak shoppers out.

I like the idea of the junk yard. Also some older industrial type area would be neat to do a walk in. Something like the area off Dundas near Kellog’s or the old McCormicks plant.

I like the idea of heading to the beach. Perhaps Grand Bend to catch the golden hour at sunset. We’d be facing west. We can always find a meeting spot in London for those that will need a ride and plan for dinner out there.

  9. I like the idea of photographing winter activities with snow on the ground at Victoria Park during a night shoot. Using tripods and experimenting with flash or time exposures and perhaps some panorama or even HDR with the Christmas lights etc.

  10. Edward had the idea of the Butterfly conservatory in Cambridge

Also, I have had a suggestion of having one at Eldon House.
