Rain or Shine

This past Sunday it was proven that regardless of the situation, climate or weather people are committed to both London and photography.
Sunday June 28th, 2009 was the date of the third London Photo Walk which was held in Downtown London along the Thames River. Considering the poor weather that we had at the beginning of the walk, the hidden location of the park and a small mis-communication between parties on where to meet the turnout was surprisingly good this time around.
11 people (+ 3 later on) took part in this photo walk which found it’s participants exploring the Thames River Trail from Oxford Street to Harris Park and Talbot Street from Harris Park back to Oxford Street. Happily the makeup of our group this time was 50% newcomers who have never been out before and 25% of the group were people that were not even from London ((Others from outside the city were sadly unable to locate the park and thus could not make it.)) which was fantastic as usual.
The small group of us moved our way down to Harris Park while stopping along to way to get pictures of empty parking garages, Blackfriars Bridge, pictures of each other and once or twice we had to stop and take cover from the rain.
By the time we made our turn around and headed back Talbot Street the rain had stopped and the sun was beginning to sneak through the clouds which at this time of day created some fantastic shadows. People captured images of out friendly animal friends, our new Emergency Assembly Point and the trek to the end of the walk.
Overall this outing was a great relaxing time which gave us all an opportunity to meet some new Londoners (and non-Londoners) and capture more of the city through imagery.
We hope that you can join us next month when London holds it’s leg of the World Wide Photo Walk on July 18th, 2009. Regardless of if you are registered or not (because you DON’T need to be) you should come out for a couple of hours of walking, talking and exploration of London, Ontario.
