London PhotoWalk #2: Invading The Old South
Having great success with the first London PhotoWalk back in April of this year many have expressed interest in getting together once again for another go at a London PhotoWalk. Having 14 photographer documenting Old East London in the previous photowalk makes me wonder how many people we can get out the second time around.
The following is what is “scheduled” for London PhotoWalk #2
Date: Sunday May 24th, 2009
Time: 11:00 AM (up for discussion, see below)
Place: South London/Wortley Village
Meeting Place: Little Red Roaster, Wortley Village
Hopefully the bad weather will keep away for this day, or at least stay at bay for the couple hours what we will be outside.
Some fantastic ideas have been thrown around for PhotoWalks that might take place in the future. James Wilkinson suggested a “scavenger hunt” type of walk, making the assumption that there would be a set list of items (or descriptions of things) that each person would try and collect while outside.
Great idea!
Another idea that was thrown around involved heading out around the time of sunset to capture London in some fantastic light.
It seems as if the community really wants to drive this PhotoWalk idea.
Stay tuned toTwitter for more information as the day approaches.
Suggestions are more than welcome and will no doubt help to improve coming PhotoWalks as I am sure there will be many more. Leave suggestions in the comments below or contact us through out contact page.

Ok, I am testing out the comments.
also I am going to issue a challenge. Anyone who doesn’t think that they are going to come because they don’t have a DSLR don’t think that.
If you come out I will shoot with my point and shoot with you and we can do some amazing stuff.
I will offer great tips on how to use your point and shoot OR your DSLR, so come on out!
If people have Canon P&S cameras I want to show them how to easily hack their camera to do HDR photography.
Are you referring to CHDK? I want to try it but my p&s Canon is not supported.
Jason.
Thats exactly it, CHDK. Ive played around with it a little before I got my DSLR but I want to try it again. The only thing that bugs me is the bulky interface of it but I might get over it.
I have played around with CHDK on my P&S, it brings a lot of nice features to ordinary cameras.
Just keep checkin in for your camera, it took a little bit for my camera to be supported. but it was worth the wait.
Hey there, I am not anywhere close to what you guys are doing but enjoy photo images. I am a youth worker working in a community resource centre. I work with youth between 10 and 24. I will be starting a group called “The Speaking Lens” – a Photojournaling Project for Teens. The goal is to identify the strengths and gaps in their community through their eyes. It is similar to the PhotoVoice – google this amazing project when you have time. I want to learn something from you all and hopefully I can bring something back for the group. It would be even better if a few of you can give me a hand with this group.
Christine.
I am glad you stopped by and made a comment. It would be great if you could make it out to the next event and spend sometime with us. I would love to talk to you about the work you do and the project that you are trying to get off the ground.
Personally I am familiar with the PhotoVoice project as I have been doing some work for a similar project focused on the Kipps Lane area. Although I have not been directly involved in the “photography” portion of this project it is something that I have thought I could lend a hand to and have some postings recently for such things.
The one thing I love about the London PhotoWalk (even though thus far we have had only 1) is that for me it isn’t about photography at all. To me this event is about community, about getting to know the communities and city I call home, highlighting the good, bad and the ugly, and meeting up with others that have the same common interest: their community.
I hope we can talk in the future.
I’m in :)
Hello All! So glad there is finally a group in London. Is anyone going to be shooting with film?
Also, another theme could be a certain colour or portraits. Colour may sound a little obscure but you’d be surprised at the interpertations that people can come up with.
Kat.
Last time I don’t think anyone who came out was shooting with film, but we more than welcome you if you do.
That is a great idea for a theme, I think soon we will start putting a theme on each walk.
Hope to see you out.
I’m in for the walk. Any plans on how long the walk will be?
Usually 1-2 Hours, we tend to all break off into smaller groups and post our photos online after the fact
Hi, nice posts there :-) thank’s for the interesting information
Sorry I missed it. Glad I found this blog. I’ll be keeping an eye open for opportunities to join you.
