On Saturday March 30th, There is a maple Syrup Festival going on in the area of Staffa. This is a small boiling operation, the festival is one day only, and will be hosted by the owners of the maple sugar bush, and the Lions Club of Staffa. The day will be eventful with a lot of photo op for all. There will be horse drawn hay rides, pancake breakfast and lots of wide open fresh air space to wander. The boiling area itself is quite small, and I am guessing there will be a lot of people there for the day!
Here are the directions to Spring Valley Maple.
The address is 3301 Perth Road 180, Staffa, Ontario.
Take Hyde Park Road, Wonderland Road or Richmond north to Highway 7, and turn RIGHT onto Highway 7,
OR
Take Adelaide, Highbury or Clarke Road north to Highway 7, and turn LEFT onto Highway 7.
At the highway 23 junction, go north on highway 23 (like you’re going to Mitchell).
In 10.8 km at Whalen Corners, turn left onto road 11.
In 15km, road 11 veers right and becomes road 180.
Keep going on road 180 to Staffa (6.2 km). Don’t blink!
Drive just past Downtown Staffa, and you will see a municipal roadworks building on your left. The Spring Valley Maple sign is on your right, just across the road. Turn into the laneway.
This is the boiler room. Please be aware that there are open flames and steam, hot equipment, tripping hazards, and hardly any room between the equipment and the walls. I would suggest a slow and respectful approach, so as not to put anyone at risk or get in the way of the operators.
this is not a specific walk, with a meeting time per sey, just an FYI of cool things going on, on the Easter Weekend for family and photography fun! Get out and enjoy.
